Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, wood alcohol, or wood spirits, is an organic compound with the simplest structure of a saturated monohydric alcohol. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH4O. The molecular weight is 32.04 and the boiling point is 64.7 ℃. Methanol is known as "xylin" and "lignin", derived from the fact that its main production method was extraction from wood vinegar (one of the products of wood distillation or cracking). Modern methanol is manufactured directly from an industrial process catalyzed by carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen. Methanol is light, highly volatile, colorless, flammable, and has a very similar odor to ethanol (drinking alcohol). But unlike ethanol, methanol is highly toxic and cannot be consumed. Commonly used as a solvent, antifreeze, fuel, or ethanol denaturant, it can also be used to produce biodiesel through ester exchange reactions.

Transportation Requirements

It is best to transport in the morning and evening during summer. It is strictly prohibited to mix and transport with oxidants, acids, alkali metals, edible chemicals, etc. During transportation, it is necessary to prevent exposure to sunlight, rain, and high temperatures. When stopping midway, one should stay away from sparks, heat sources, and high temperature areas. The exhaust pipe of the vehicle carrying this item must be equipped with a flame retardant device, and the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to generating sparks for loading and unloading is prohibited.
